Assessment

Institutional Effectiveness

Administrative and Support Units

The Administrative and Support Units support ongoing assessments of student learning designed to improve the effectiveness of academic programs and instruction.

Assessment activities are designed and implemented by faculty in each department. Assessment results are used to select improvement strategies intended to ensure student learning and success.

Each department identifies expected outcomes for its educational programs; assesses whether it achieves these outcomes; and provides evidence of improvement based on analysis of those results. The mechanism used to complete these processes is the Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Process. This process enables faculty to develop assessment criteria, measures and procedures that are discipline appropriate. The process is a recurring annual cycle of assessment planning and reporting.
